We at Enphase are here to help you understand the SGIP application process better. Below, you will see each step of the application process — including what you will need to do at each step.

Get Pre-Approved as a Developer

We encourage all our partner installers in California to register as pre-approved SGIP developers. To make that happen, you will need to download the application form here and follow these steps:

For more details on SGIP developer process please visit the SGIP website here.

Confirm which budget you qualify for

Since the state has different budgets for incentives based on your income and locale, you will first need to confirm whether you qualify for the equity and equity resiliency incentive, or the regular residential incentive. To do that, you will need to check your local census data for median income in your area, whether you live in defined high fire threat zone, or you are a medical baseline customer, or a customer that has notified their utility of severe illness or condition that could become life-threatening if electricity is disconnected, or rely on electric pump wells for water supplies. We recommend you check and confirm with your Enphase solar installer for this

  • If you are eligible for the equity budget, you can get up to $850 per kWh of energy storage installed. For equity resiliency, the value goes up to $1000 per kWh.

  • If you are not eligible for these budgets, the General market storage budget will be applicable to you.

    • The regular small residential budget for energy storage systems with less than 10kW power output (this budget will provide you $200 per kWh of energy storage installed in the latest step-6 of the budget) or

    • The large-scale storage budget for energy storage systems with greater than 10kW power output (this budget will provide you $250 per kWh of energy storage installed in the latest step-3 of the budget)

For detailed eligibility criteria for the budgets refer to the CPUC website here.
