How do I disable and enable power production?

With Enphase’s one-button standby mode, you can remotely disable and enable power production using Enlighten Manager in the office or on the job site.

With Enphase’s one-button standby mode, you can remotely disable and enable power production using Enlighten Manager in the office or on the job site. For example, you may want to prevent the system from producing power prior to receiving permission to operate from the utility.

To disable power production using your mobile device while you're still on the jobsite, see the application note here.

To disable or enable power production in the office using Enlighten Manager for microinverters communicating with an Envoy, perform the following steps:

  1. Select the Devices tab.
  2. Under the Envoy Communication Gateways list, click the Envoy.
  3. Scroll down to Tasks and view the Power Production status.

You can issue a task for the Envoy to enable or disable power production on the microinverters that are communicating with it. On a typical system during daylight hours, the Envoy will receive and execute the task within 30 minutes.

Notes:

  • Changing the production status requires sustained communications between the Envoy and the microinverters. For example, if the task is sent at the end of the day, it may not complete until the next morning.
  • Maintaining a production disabled status requires sustained communications between the Envoy and the microinverters. If a microinverter loses communication with the Envoy it will begin to produce power the next day.
  • Before you disable production, be sure that the Envoy will continue to report to Enlighten so that you can re-enable production when appropriate.
  • When enabling or disabling production on an Envoy using a cellular connection to Enlighten, it will take at least one hour to see the change reflected in Enlighten.
  • If there are AC Batteries communicating with the Envoy, they will not charge or discharge while power production is disabled.

When production is disabled, the system status is Production Issue: Power off by command. This allows you to quickly identify systems in this state on the Systems List. The Events page indicates Power generation off by command for the affected devices.
