How do I update the Envoy password to reconnect to my home Wi-Fi network?

Learn how to update the network settings for your Envoy-S or IQ Envoy.

If your Envoy uses your home Wi-Fi network to communicate with Enlighten and you've recently changed your network password, you will have to update the Envoy's password with your new network password. This may be required if you have changed your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or router.

Follow these steps if your Envoy-S and Envoy-S Metered and looks like one of the devices pictured below. (If your Envoy does not look like one of these devices, visit the page here.)

If your router supports WPS functionality (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), skip to the steps on the page here. (Using WPS is the simplest way to get your Envoy reconnected.) Otherwise, continue with the instructions below.

Use the MyEnlighten mobile app (available for iOS and Android) to reset the password on your Envoy. Download the app to your mobile device to begin.

First, you’ll need to connect your mobile device to a wireless network created by the Envoy. To turn on this network, enable the Envoy’s AP Mode (AP stands for “Access Point”).

Briefly press the AP Mode button on the face of the Envoy. The LED will turn green, indicating that the Envoy is in AP Mode.

This functionality is not available on Envoys manufactured prior to the launch of the Envoy-S.

Once you’ve enabled AP mode on the Envoy, it begins to broadcast a wireless network that you can join. Go to your mobile device’s Wi-Fi Settings screen and connect to the Envoy’s wireless network. The name will include the last six digits of the Envoy serial number. (Make note of these last six digits. You will use these numbers in a later step.)

After you’ve confirmed that your mobile device is connected to the Envoy’s wireless network, launch the MyEnlighten app. The app will display the Envoy’s home screen.

Scroll down to the Monitoring section and tap the Wi-Fi row.

You’ll be prompted to enter the password for the Envoy, which is the last six digits of the Envoy’s 12-digit serial number. Use the numbers from the Envoy's network you joined earlier or find the Envoy’s serial number either on the bottom or the back of the unit.

Next, tap the View Networks button, then select your home network from the list of available networks. Enter the password for your home network and tap the Connect button. The app will confirm that you’ve successfully connected to your home network and the monitoring section on your Envoy home screen will look like this:

Once you’ve established a successful connection, return to your mobile device’s Wi-Fi settings and disconnect from the Envoy’s network. This will allow your mobile device to reconnect to your home network and the Internet.
